Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Australian Catholic Social Justice Council and my colleagues in the Secretariat, I would like to thank you for your support throughout the year and for your many works for justice inspired by Jesus Christ.

To our readers and subscribers – for spreading the hopeful message of justice and peace;

To our authors, editors, graphic designers, printers and distributors who help us fashion and promote the message throughout Australia and abroad;

To our Diocesan Social Justice Contacts – for your collegiality and great support in fostering the passion for social justice in your dioceses and particularly in broadcasting the message of Social Justice Sunday;

To every student, school, parish, religious congregation and lay association we have had the opportunity to collaborate with in the shared work for justice;

For sister organisations of the Bishops Conference and numerous ecumenical, inter-faith and civil society campaigns ranging from justice for the First Peoples of Australia to addressing the plight of refugees and asylum seekers on Manus and Nauru;

And to current and former members of this Secretariat – for your unique contribution to the work of the agency over the years. I am particularly grateful to Dr David Brennan, who is about to take up retirement after 13 years of dedicated service as the ACSJC's Editing and Research Officer.

Thank you!

May Advent provide the prayerful space we all need at this busy time to reflect on the year gone by and, with our families, in our communities and for the world, to raise our hopes as we prepare for the coming of the Prince of Peace.

Wishing you every joy and blessing of Christmas.

John Ferguson
National Executive Officer
